Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Candidate Forum

The Fairfax Branch of the NAACP, along with partners ACLU People Power of Fairfax, Opportunities Alternatives and Resources (OAR), and the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association, presents The Commonwealth Attorney's Forum, a panel discussion with candidates for Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney, moderated by attorney Vanessa Jordan.

This forum will provide Fairfax County voters an opportunity to hear candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this critical election. There will be an opportunity for the candidates to answer audience questions.

All declared candidates have been invited and are welcome to participate. The primary election is Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

  • Former federal prosecutor Steve Descano (confirmed)

  • Republican Candidate TBD (Fairfax GOP has been informed)

Topics of discussion include: commonwealth attorney's vision, commonwealth attorney's accountability, criminal justice reform, death penalty, racial justice, cash bail, decarceration, immigration, transparency, police misconduct and felony larceny threshold.
