Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova presents Gary Ambrose with the Fairfax County At-Large Community Champion award. Ambrose has served as chairman of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board and the Fairfax County Diversion First Initiative to give non-violent offenders who may have mental illness the opportunity to get treatment rather than be incarcerated. Ambrose also served on the 2015 Ad Hoc Police Practices Review Commission. Bulova said, “He fosters understanding and appreciation for the issues surrounding mental illness and is making a real difference in bringing about meaningful policy changes in Fairfax County.”
