The Sully Station II Piranhas had a busy week of swimming, highlighted by four record-breaking performances at the 2012 Divisional Relay Carnival on Wednesday, July 11. The 9-10 girls’ medley squad of Faith Alston, Taylor Smith, Delaney Kennedy and Daeun Lee lowered their record from earlier in the summer to 1:16.53. The fearsome foursome of Carli Molano, Erin Schulte, Madisyn Graham and Kenzie Elliott broke both the 15-18 girls’ relay records with times of 2:12.46 in the medley and 1:58.85 in the freestyle. The 15-18 boys followed suit and closed the meet out with a new free record time of 1:49.49 by Ben Wu, Kevin Jiang, Austen Bundy and Nick Campbell.

Seven Piranha relay teams were under the projected All-Star cut and four ultimately made the NVSL All-Star Relay Carnival held on July 18. The 9-10 girls were seeded ninth in the medley, the 15-18 girls were seeded 12th in the medley and 14th in the free, and the 11-12 girls were seeded 17th in the free. That squad is composed of swimmers Lily Harkes, Karenna Hall, Lauren Peters and Georgia Stamper.

The exciting week continued with Sully II hosting their last home meet of the season on Saturday, July 14 against Wakefield Chapel. Swimmers posted 34 personal-best times and turned in strong performances, led by double event winners Harrison Saint Germain in free (18.05) and breaststroke (26.38) and Stamper in free (31.63) and breaststroke (39.80). Nick Campbell also secured two victories in free (26.10) and back (30.28), leading a sweep in that event with teammates Austen Bundy (32.49) and Kevin Jiang (33.27).

First-place finishes were also turned in by freestylers Kennedy (36.91) and Elliott (30.89), backstrokers Caitlin Campbell (37.13) and Graham (35.21), breaststroker Dasom Lee (42.63), and fly master Austen Bundy (29.75).

Sully II honored their five graduating seniors — Jen Byrne, Cari Schumann, Andrew Kwon, Carli Molano, and Nick Campbell — with a new Piranha Pass where each swimmer entered a high five tunnel composed of teammates and parents.

Sully II will face Lakevale Estates in their last dual meet of the season on July 21.
