It’s great to be able to give back to our community.”

The stars of Alexandria were out as the High Octane Ball kicked off the Festival of Speed and Style weekend May 17 at Land Rover Alexandria.

Hosted in the showroom of presenting sponsor Land Rover Alexandria, the black-tie affair celebrated Speed & Style while raising critical funds for local nonprofits, including ALIVE!, Community Lodgings and the National Breast Center Foundation.

“This is such a great event, said Old Town resident Darica Fenner, who attended with friends. “It’s great to be able to give back to our community. And of course the car show is amazing.”

A Joan Rivers impersonator served as emcee and narrated the red carpet arrivals.

The centerpiece of the evening was the live auction of a painting by renowned performance artist David Garibaldi.  The painting, which depicted a car specially created for the event, sold for $10,000 to the Yates family, including Jason, Loren and Jason Jr.
