The special election to fill the Braddock District school board position will be held on March 3. Only residents of the Braddock District can vote in this election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Rachna Sizemore Heizer. Early in-person voting ends Feb. 28 at the Fairfax County Government Center and the Burke Centre Library.
Candidates on the ballot for the unexpired term to end December 2027 are Tom F. Dannan and Saundra T. Davis.
Dannan is a small-business owner and former PTA president, and he served as a substitute teacher and Peace Corps volunteer. He is running on a platform of strengthening public education, supporting teachers and ensuring every student in Fairfax County has an opportunity to reach their full potential.

Davis has a master’s degree in health care administration and worked as a director of a memory care community. She currently serves on a state-level body that operates under the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.
Davis previously ran for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2025 as a Republican and for the at-large seat on the Fairfax County School Board in 2023. Her platform focuses on parental rights, fiscal accountability and support for the Virginia High School League policy on boys and girls sports.
