Fairfax County Public Schools has signed a 13-year lease at the Willow Oaks Corporate Center in Merrifield to relocated 500 support staff from the Fairfax Ridge Administration Center, where its lease it set to expire in March 2016.

Whatever their reasons were for attending Franklin Middle School’s Band & Orchestra Camp, the results for the students were the same — knowledge, improvement and fun. Rocky Run Middle seventh-grader Alexander Alvarez and his sister Christina, a Poplar Tree Elementary sixth-grader, attended for the first time. Both play clarinet and had a great time there.

Some students walked into the Chantilly High School cafeteria thinking the camp would be easy. Others walked in because their parents made them. The room slowly grew in size as both groups of youths converged. Every day for one week, these students, grades 7-12, were given the opportunity to learn about computer vulnerabilities, internet ethics, and types of software. Welcome to the world of cybersecurity.
