
Encore Presents “Dancin’ Fool” at NOVA
Premiering their new show here before taking it to Greece this summer are the singers and dancers of Encore Theatrical Art Project. They’ll perform “Dancin’ Fool” on Saturday, June 9, at 4 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 10, at 1 and 4 p.m.

Broadway Comes to Town
Centreville High’s choral concert is June 7-8.
Centreville High School’s Choral Department will present “Broadway Pops,” its final concert of the year, Thursday-Friday, June 7- 8, at 7:30 p.m., in the school’s Skip Maiden Theater. Tickets are $5 for adults at the door; students are free.

Girls on the Run
Twenty-six girls from Lees Corner Elementary School ran in the Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia 5K held on the George Mason University Campus on Sunday, May 20. The run was the capstone event of a 12-week after school program that aims to help girls between 3rd and 6th grade develop self-esteem and self-respect through a curriculum integrated with a running program. More than 3,600 girls from schools in northern Virginia, and their buddy runners participated in the 5K.

Leave it to Chantilly High to take a classic fairytale, turn it on its head and come up with something hilarious. And that’s just what the school has done with its upcoming children’s show, “Cinderella and the Substitute Fairy Godmother.”

Spotlight Shines on Three Local Schools
Westfield receives 20 Cappie nominations.
The Cappie nominations for outstanding high-school theater were just announced and, all together, Centreville, Chantilly and Westfield received 30 nominations. The awards to the winners will be presented Sunday, June 10, at the annual Cappies Gala at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Herndon Hosts Annual Festival May 31-June 3
Festival Features free Entertainment, fireworks and carnival.
Herndon will host its 32nd annual Herndon Festival May 31 to June 3, attracting more than 80,000 metropolitan Washington, D.C. residents to one of the area’s largest admission free festivals.

Audition Workshop Set for Westfield Summer Stage
Westfield Summer Stage celebrates 12 years of summer musicals with the classic musical comedy, “Anything Goes,” to be performed in late July at Westfield High. Auditions will begin in a few weeks, so an audition workshop for prospective cast members will be held Monday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m., where material for the vocal and dance auditions will be taught.

Alliance Theatre To Present Musical Showcase
Shining a spotlight on the local community’s youth, The Alliance Theatre presents its inaugural Musical Showcase, Friday-Saturday, May 4-5, at Mountain View High. The event is a fund-raiser for Mountain View to purchase additional lighting, sound and window covers for its auditorium.
