Chantilly Teen Dies after Car Crash

An 18-year-old Chantilly man has died from injuries sustained in a car crash, Sunday night in Oakton. Fairfax County police identified him as Franklin Aquino. Officers responded June 19, around 11 p.m., to a single-vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Fox Mill Road near Barksdale Drive.

Preliminarily, detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Aquino was driving a 2007 Mazda 3 south on Fox Mill Road. As the Mazda crested the hill, they say Aquino lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road to the right, striking a tree.

He was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A juvenile passenger in the car was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening and remains hospitalized.

According to police, “Preliminarily, speed is considered a factor in the crash.”
